5 Romantic Spots to Pop the Question in Brisbane

There’s no need to travel to a far-off location to pull off the perfect proposal when there are so many romantic spots right here in our own backyard. When you want to pop the question, Brisbane delivers!

So, whether you’re the husband to be looking for the perfect spot to pop the question or the hopeful sweetheart dreaming about the day he gets down on one knee to ask for your hand, we know you’ll find something to spark your inspiration amongst our ultimate list of proposal spots across Brisbane.

While we know there’s plenty of gorgeous locations around Brisbane where you could pop the question such as Mount Tamborine, Maleny or any of the stunning beaches along the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast, for the purposes of this blog, we’re keeping the options local!

1.   Mount Coot-tha

Taking a date up to Mount Coot-tha lookout tends to be a right of passage for many Brisbane residents. If you haven’t had at least one date at the Mount Coot-tha lookout, you’re missing out. So, it makes sense that plenty of Brisbane couples also get engaged at this iconic and very romantic spot.

The Mount Coot-tha lookout delivers one of the best views of Brisbane hands down, and the Summit Restaurant and Bar also makes for the perfect pre or post proposal dining location to create an epically romantic proposal experience.

If you’re considering a daytime proposal, you could even extend your romantic date and head down the mountain to the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens. In fact, this is an ideal spot to propose in its own right. The massive 52-hectare gardens have so much space in such stunning settings that it won’t be hard to find a secluded path to stroll down or a picnic spot to pull up at to pop the question.

2.    Kangaroo Point Cliffs

Mt Coo-tha isn’t the only hot spot with a view. The Kangaroo Point Cliffs also delivers an impressive view of our gorgeous city. Whether you walk along the top of the cliffs or at the bottom amongst more leafy surroundings, there are many spots where you could pull up to admire the view and then get down on one knee to pop the question.

If you’re looking for more privacy, head to the bottom of the cliffs where you can find a few more secluded treed off areas away from the main thoroughfare and walking paths. You could even make a day of it with a romantic picnic by the cliff edge or continue your walk until you reach Southbank Parklands – Brisbane’s premier entertainment and dining hub.

3.    Story Bridge Adventure Climb

Being in love is like standing on the top of the world, so why not personify this feeling by proposing at the very peak of one of Brisbane’s most iconic landmarks – the Story Bridge. Take your love on the Story Bridge Adventure Climb. Walking along the very top of the bridge while looking down at the cars below and across to the surrounding city is a real thrill and an experience like no other.

Just give the Story Bridge Adventure Climb team a heads up about your proposal intentions, and they will work with you to create the perfect proposal. A covert operation will be set up just for you where you will be included at the very end of a regular tour. As the rest of the group concludes their bridge climb, you and your love will remain on top of the bridge – giving you the perfect opportunity to ask your spouse-to-be for her hand in marriage.

4.    Dinner Date Proposal

Wouldn’t you love to pop the question while doing something you both enjoy? If you both absolutely love the delicious taste of fine food (and who doesn’t), proposing at a romantic restaurant is a wonderful choice. There are so many world standard dining establishments in Brisbane that will make the perfect venue for your proposal.

Whether you have something special pre-planned with the dining establishment of your choice (such as the ring at the bottom of a champagne glass or in the centre of her favourite dessert), or if you prefer to pop the question quietly over your favourite meals, there’s no doubt she will love it!

Spare no expense for this very special moment and go all out by booking a table at one of Brisbane’s many 5-star restaurants. Not sure which one to pick? Take a look at this list of romantic dining options in Brisbane. We guarantee she’s bound to swoon over any one of these!

5.    Moreton Island or North Stradbroke Island

You don’t need to drive up or down the coast to find epic beaches for your sun-soaked proposal when Moreton Island and North Stradbroke Island are both a simple ferry ride away. No need to sit in hectic highway traffic to get there. Just drive to the port, hop on a ferry or barge and you’ll find gorgeous beaches along with a variety of accommodation types for your stay.

And the best part of travelling to these destinations is you miss the crowds you often find on patrolled Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast beaches. You can also find secluded beaches and lookouts right across both islands for your romantic private proposal.
